Eczema

During the last year of my Naturopathic Diploma in Sydney in 1984, I was pregnant with my first child. We were studying eczema, amongst other subjects. I remember thinking how devastating it would be to have a child with eczema. When my baby boy was born, I made sure I did all the right things to avoid allergies for my child. One of my lecturers had mentioned things like; breast feeding for at least the first six months, not to introduce solids too early, don't give cows milk till much later (if at all), avoid chemicals, use soft cotton clothing etc. I followed these recommendations and, as neither my partner nor myself had ever had eczema, you can imagine how surprised we were when our little boy's skin became red and angry at about four months of age. Eczema was diagnosed and that started a twenty-five year search and interest in treating skin conditions.

I treated my boy successfully with herbs and homeopathics, searching for a good quality cream to put on his skin. I attracted other clients with eczema into my naturopathic practice and found diet, herbs and homeopathics to be very successful. However, because of the dry and itchy nature of the condition, many people wanted some topical relief. In the early 1990's I started making up my own cream, Healing Herbs Skin Cream, something that was soothing and healing but would not drive the disease process deeper into the body, instead help to clear and heal the condition. I had much success with this cream making up hundreds of jars. Eventually in 2008 I decided to have this cream manufactured. The result is a natural and organic skin cream with a base of olive oil, coconut oil and jojoba oil that is very light and non-greasy. The active constituents are Calendula for healing, Golden Seal as an antibacterial, Chickweed for the irritation and itching, Aloe Vera for the soothing and cooling effect, and Vit E as an antioxidant and for healing. This combination has proved to be extremely effective for dry, scaly, red and irritated skin conditions and can be used on a daily basis to help moisturise the skin, heal on a deep level, and to avoid bacterial infections.

I would always recommend looking at dietary and lifestyle factors when treating eczema, but for a topical solution to the symptoms, I have found nothing better than Healing Herbs Skin Cream.
