A Spring Detox

Spring has arrived and the change of season brings with it the feeling of growth and renewal. This is always a wonderful time to spring clean our houses and our bodies.

Reasons for a detox:

  1. 1. To lose some of the unwanted weight we may have put on over winter.
  2. 2. To increase energy.
  3. 3. To give the liver and digestive processes a rest and a clean out.
  4. 4. To help rid the body of some of the unwanted chemicals and heavy metals that we continuously accumulate.

Here is a quick and easy detox that can be done over five days including a weekend of rest and relaxation:

1st day - eat only organic fruit and vegies - i.e. fruit salad for breakfast, salad for lunch and steamed vegies for dinner. Drink filtered water and herb teas in between meals. Do not consume anything else (vitamins, tea, coffee, alcohol etc.)
2nd day - drink only clear vegie broth, vegie juices and herb teas - make the broth from a combination of organic carrots, green beans, potatoes, celery, kale and garlic. Cook the vegies until soft and strain off the liquid. Drink 2-3 mugs of the warmed liquid during the day and evening. Vegie juices should be made from any combination of organic carrot, celery, beetroot, cabbage, parsley, ginger and lemon. Do not use raw kale or spinach in the juices. Any herbal teas can be consumed.
3rd day - drink only pure filtered water. Make sure you drink at least two litres over the course of the day. A small squeeze of lemon juice can be added to your glass of water.
4th day - same as 2nd day.
5th day - same as 1st day.

During the detox, some bulking agents can be taken to help clear out the bowel and intestines and to encourage further elimination.

Some excellent products to choose from are:

  1. 1. Moorlife Klenz - take 1-2 tspns in water or juice morning and evening followed by a large glass of water.
  2. 2. Motion Potion - take 1-2 tspns in water or juice morning and evening followed by a large glass of water.
  3. 3. Psyllium Husks and Slippery Elm Powder - take 1 tspn of each in water or juice morning and evening followed by a large glass of water.
